Entomologists
Entomologists study the anatomy, development, life history,
behaviour, ecology, and classification of insects and examine insect
pests that damage crops, plants and buildings as well as insect
species that endanger the health of human beings in some way. Some
insects are actually beneficial to people. For example, silkworms
contribute a valuable silk fibre and honeybees produce honey. Other
insects such as the praying mantis, ladybird beetle and lacewing,
prey on many insect pests and so these species must be protected.
