Solitary Bees

Solitary bees live alone and sometimes thousands of solitary bees gather in a small area and build their nest together but they do not live like the bees in a colony. There are no worker bees and each female is like a queen that does her own work such as building the nest and collecting and storing pollen. Examples of solitary bees include the carpenter bee, leaf cutting bees, mining bees, mason bees and cuckoo bees.
