The sting of a worker bee is straight with little hooks on it. When a bee stings something these hooks grab hold of the flesh and the stinger comes out of the bee's body. Tiny muscles inside the actual sting keep working to force it deeper into the flesh of the victim. This sting contains a poison which can be very harmful to certain people. Once a worker has used its sting it soon dies. Drones have no sting and the queen of a colony only uses her sting to fight off other queens. They do not lose their sting like the worker bees.
